Often, employers want to know what to do with their helpers when they are in transition mode. They may need to leave one household on a certain day, due to a move, a replacement, etc., but the new employer's timeline doesn't quite add up. Where can these helpers legally stay while they are in transition?
We recommend putting your helper in interim housing. This can take many forms, but legal options include staying at an agency's lodging, staying in a hotel, and even staying in a hostel (although we would recommend female only hostels).
You may also find yourself in the position of needing more than just lodging to bridge the gap. For example, if you are leaving the country and your helper can't start her new job yet, or hasn't found an employer, you might need to find an alternative to sending her home while she is in transition. For this we recommend using an agency to take over the work permit and put the helper on a special pass. This gives her 30 days to find an employer or get her paperwork completed for an employer she found.
